External event : FOLAR Women in Landscape Architecture- Elizabeth Beazley

Recognising that sister organisations at times host talks potentially of interest to our members, occasionally we will link to what will be labelled as External Events. Clicking the link will take you through to third parties - in this case to the Folar website - where you can find more information and register here.

Elisabeth Beazley (1923 – 2018) is not a particularly well-known figure in 20th century landscape architecture, and arguably deserves to be better remembered than she currently is.

Dr Phil Back will talk about her work which includes the authorship of four important textbooks on architecture and landscape, and over 50 published articles on a wide range of subjects, from supermarkets to Persian pigeon-houses. She spent 25 years as a member of the Executive Committee of the National Trust, and worked for around twenty years with its Scottish counterpart, including a fifteen-year engagement at one specific site, which is where we can best see the principles she articulated being put into practice.

This presentation will look at the principles she espoused and articulated – often for the first time - and the ways in which her work, and her legacy, exemplify these.

This is an EXTERNAL event.

Members will need to click through the link to register and pay the small registration fee on Eventbrite: Book your tickets at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/folar-talks-women-in-landscape-architecture-elisabeth-beazley-tickets-149683620739
