Book Reviews Editor sought for ‘Architectural History’ Journal

Architectural History , the journal of the SAHGB, is seeking a Book Reviews Editor covering the period pre-1750, to succeed the current incumbent Professor Paul Davies with effect from 1st September 2023.

The position represents an exciting opportunity to help contribute to the future success of this internationally respected journal. Experience in academic writing and editing is essential. You will work closely with the incoming Editor, Dr Emily Mann (who takes over from Professor Mark Swenarton on 1st September), and alongside other members of the Editorial Board, including the Book Reviews Editor (post-1750), Professor Neil Jackson.

The journal is published once per year and the appointee will take charge of pre-1750 book reviews for the 2024 issue onwards.

The position involves: commissioning reviews (roughly 10 per year, 750-1000 words each), liaising with reviewers, editing manuscripts for style and content, and attending (online) editorial meetings (2-3 per year).

The appointment is initially for three years and a modest honorarium is offered.
