Donations and Legacies
The SAHGB is a registered charity dedicated to the dissemination of knowledge for public benefit. To this end, it publishes its journal, Architectural History, and provides scholarships, grants and prizes.
It receives no Government funding and relies upon subscriptions, donations and legacies.
A donation, however small, is always welcome. If you are able to make a Gift Aid declaration, this increases the amount we receive at no cost to you.
We have been very fortunate to receive some generous donations from charitable trusts, and we value the relationship we have built up with a number of them over the years. If you are a trustee or secretary of a grant-giving trust and would like to know more about the work of the Society, please contact the Secretary.
Some people feel the most satisfactory way they can give financial support to the SAHGB's charitable work is by leaving something to the Society in their will. This might be a specific sum of money or a percentage of your total estate. You can incorporate this if you are making a new will, or you can add a properly-drawn-up codicil to an existing one. Your solicitor may want to know that the Society's full name is the Society of Architectural Historians of Great Britain and that it is Registered Charity no. 236432 in England and Wales.
There is no need to tell the Society that you intend leaving it something - that's very much up to you - but if you or your solicitor do wish to discuss any aspect of it, please contact the Secretary. If you would like your legacy to be spent on anything specific, it is usually wise to discuss the practicalities.
The Society thanks you for your support.
