The Society of Architectural Historians of Great Britain encourages the study and enjoyment of architectural history. Through its membership, the Society provides a forum for the interchange of ideas and information, acting as a valuable link between architectural historians both in this country and abroad. Membership is open to all who are interested in architecture and its history, and an interest in the built environment is the only qualification. There are over 1,100 individual and institutional members in the British Isles and abroad. Members receive the regular Newsletter, the annual edition of the journal Architectural History, and invitations to events, study days and tours.
You can join on-line now by completing the on-line application form at the bottom of this page. Your membership details are entered on this form, and payment is then made by proceeding to the PayPal website following the link which then appears. Success in entering your details is confirmed by a green 'ok' sign.
Alternatively, download the application form as a WORD or PDF document. Please post your application with payment to the Membership Secretary at the following address:

Members who pay UK tax at the standard rate are invited to complete the Gift Aid Declaration in the space provided on the application forms. The Society can then claim the tax back at no cost to members. (Members who pay some tax at the higher rate will then also be able claim back tax at the difference between the two rates.)
All enquiries about membership, including changes of address or membership status, should be addressed to the Membership Secretary.
Subscriptions are payable annually on the first day of January. From 2011 the rates are as follows. Life membership has been discontinued.
