2nd Annual Graduate Student Research Forum
Friday, 2 May 2014
Hosted by the History of Art Department at the University of Cambridge
This is a student-led event offered post-graduate students in architectural history an opportunity to present their research while engaging with others studying and working in the field. The aim of the Forum was to break away from more traditional conference models by creating a dynamic and friendly event where students, established academicians and professionals can exchange knowledge, skills and experiences.
To meet these aims, the day was structured to include sixteen ten-minute ‘Lightning Round’ talks that cover a wide range of topics. Sessions of four presentations were followed by a brief discussion period. Lightning rounds were interspersed with professional panels led by Alex Bremner, Ayla Lepine, Elizabeth Darling, Emily Guerry, Frank Salmon, and William Whyte. These speakers discussed their personal experiences while providing useful insight for navigating research, publication, and career opportunities. Deborah Howard delivered the keynote speech.
This year’s student organisers were Richard Butler, Bridget Hembree and Otto Saumarez-Smith. Please submit inquiries to SAHGBforum2014@gmail.com.
